Subject:Funding of Primary School

From:John C. Coghlan, S.J.

Dear Wah Yanities,

It was a great pleasure meeting so many former Wah Yan students and I was touched by the very warm feelings expressed about Wah Yan, the teachers and the fathers. The whole conference was a most enjoyable experience and I am sure that you join me in congratulating our Ontario hosts and organisers on their magnificent achievement.

I was very heartened by the favourable response to the proposal to fund a primary school or schools in China.I send you all a copy of what I said on the matter during the conference.

I would be very grateful if you would consider the proposal at soon as is convenient.Would your chapter be willing to support the project financially and if so to what extent? The I.N.C is being transferred back to Hong Kong and I can foresee the members will be very busy for a couple of months. For the moment it might be better if I acted as the contact man for the project. As suggested in my talk would it be possible to let me know by October 15th your decision on the matter? (Telephone : 2546 9201, Fax : 2858 4267, E-mail : riccihal@hkusua.hku.hk).To allay fears I would like to stress one point.I have heard that several organizations in Hong Kong (Lions, Rotary) have funded such schools and are satisfied that their money is being well spent!

I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely,

John C. Coghlan, S.J.
