Obituary: Mr. John Yeung ('93) 楊顯瑜老師
Our Wah Yan brother Mr. John Yeung (‘93) after struggling with his cancer for few weeks passed away peacefully last week, with his wife and parents and good friends around. His only younger brother also passed away 10 years ago when he was studying F.3 in Wah Yan. John now left behind his 2-year old boy and his wife Ada and his parents and the small amount of his provident fund.
John started teaching in Wah Yan last year mainly teaching English to the junior form students. He graduated from Pun U Wah Yan Primary School in 1988 and continued his secondary education in Wah Yan and graduated F.5 in 1993 and F.7 in 1995. He then continued his tertiary education in Hong Kong Polytechnic University (for high diploma), City University of Hong Kong (for BA) and University of Hong Kong (for PGDE), majoring in English for Professional Communication. Before coming to teach in Wah Yan, John was doing research work in the Department of English of City University of Hong Kong for few years. He was confirmed cancer in late December 2010 and started the first chemotherapy treatment on 2nd January 2011. He was so weak that he was sent to hospital last Sunday and passed away peacefully on Thursday 13th January 2011.

Dear Relatives, Friends, Brothers & Sisters in Christ,
John Yeung rested in God’s arms peacefully on 13-Jan-2011. Mr. & Mrs. Yeung
(John’s parents) and Ada (wife) thank you for your support and prayers in
the past month during John’s fight with lung cancer. Before John’s death he
was still very brave and faithfully facing the new path, he also thanks you
for your heartfelt care. John passed away in a calm and peaceful manner.
John’s funeral will be held at the Hong Kong Funeral Home (North Point) on 26-Jan-2011 at 8 pm. The entire ceremony will last for approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.
John’s parents and I understand and appreciate your condolences towards John. In lieu of any flowers for the ceremony we are happy to accept kind donations that will be reserved for Johnson’s (John’s <3 years old son) education foundation.
